The genesis of Faith in Our Future (2014-2018), the Pastoral Plan for the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta, lies in the faith and aspirations of its people. Representing the voices of thousands of Catholics who shared their views through the largest consultation process undertaken in the history of our Diocese, Faith in Our Future has engendered a tremendous response from our parishes, agencies and groups who move ahead with real confidence, direction and energy.
In this special overview (2.72 MB) released in November 2014, we review the past months of achievement in the first year of our Diocesan Pastoral Plan. Among these is the establishment of the first Family and Life Office in the history of the Diocese, fresh leadership for Catholic Youth Parramatta and Catholic Social Services, and the ongoing implementation of recommendations for religious education curriculum following review. On a parish level, communities have set new pastoral priorities, written parish pastoral plans, while new parish pastoral councils and social justice groups have formed, new websites produced and forms of pastoral outreach and evangelisation have been set in train.
The momentum of our Diocesan Pastoral Plan is challenging us as individuals and communities to a renewed heart for prayer, service and evangelisation. Inspired by the living faith and commitment of our priests, deacons, religious, lay men and women, and youth, we look to this future with great hope. It is together in mutual support that we will take Christ deeper into the hearts and homes of Western Sydney, transforming our society with the joy of His Gospel.
